PowerUp Week



PowerUp Week is a time to have fun, get inspired and PowerUp with activities to help kids, families and the entire community eat better and move more. This special week is a great way for communities in the St. Croix Valley to come together and do what’s best for our kids, so they can grow up healthy and strong.

Use #powerup4kids and share a photo of how you and your family PowerUp this week!

Calling all Power Chefs! It’s time to tune up your taste buds and show off your skills by sending in your favorite, kid-created recipe for a chance to WIN some prizes and earn the title of Power CHEF!

Submit a recipe  |  Recipe submissions are due by June 30, 2018.

Get your sneakers ready and PowerUp with this fun and free family run/walk on the Stower Seven Lakes State Trail! New this year is a 5K option. Both races are open to all ages. Glacial Pothole Exploration Tour
12 p.m. | Interstate State Park, Taylors Falls, MN
You are invited to experience the stunning scenery and incredible story of Interstate State Park. An interpretive naturalist will lead you over, under and (briefly) through world-renowned rock features on this 45-minute tour. Discover how lakes of lava and gushing glacial waters formed the unique glacial potholes and even step inside one. All ages are welcome. Expect some uneven terrain and stairs. Meet at the visitor center (256 Traprock Street, Taylors Falls, MN). The program is free, but a Minnesota State Park Pass is required on all vehicles entering the park. Passes can be purchased at the park for $7 for a day or $35 for a yearly pass.

Kid’s Animal Hike
Kids Ages 3-12 are welcome to come on this ½ mile loop hike (Hidden Ponds Trail). We will learn about the animals, meet some live ones and everyone will win a PowerUp Prize. Fat Tire Biking with DIRO Outdoors*
Cross it off your bucket list! Join DIRO Outdoors and PowerUp for a one hour off-road fat biking tour at Lake Elmo Park Reserve. The wide, off-road, multi-use trails are perfect for those new to mountain biking or those that prefer a wider trail to ride on. Unlike other trails, there are no obstacles to contend with allowing you to relax and enjoy the beautiful countryside.

PowerUp Kids and Family Dance Party
Come dance and learn new moves to the latest music! Join in the family fun for all ages and EveryBody!

Kids, Birds and Binoculars
10:00 a.m. | Interstate State Park, Taylors Falls, MN
What was that!? Join the naturalist as we solve the mystery of which backyard bird is which through games and a scavenger hunt. We'll even make simple cardboard binoculars you can take home. All ages are welcome to the program, but it is best suited for ages 5-10. Children must be accompanied by an adult. The fun begins at the stone picnic shelter near the park's southern office (307 Milltown Rd). The program is free, but a Minnesota State Park Pass is required on all vehicles entering the park. Passes can be purchased at the park for $7 for a day or $35 for a yearly pass.
