Teen Leadership Council
The PowerUp Teen Leadership Council empowers and inspires teens across the St. Croix Valley and East Metro to become champions for healthier lifestyles among their peers and communities.

Eligibility Requirements:

  • 9th-12th grade (or 15-19 years old) for 2019-2020 school year 
  • Live in the East Metro or St. Croix Valley
  • Interested in health and wellness

 

Roles & Responsibilities:

  • Be champions for healthier lifestyles among peers and communities
  • Guide innovative youth-led health and wellness projects
  • Recruit, select, and mobilize peers to get involved in PowerUp programs
  • Work with staff to lead the direction of PowerUp programs and initiatives

 

Commitment:

  • Meetings are typically held twice per month on Tuesday evenings during the summer and school year (June-May). Regular attendance is expected
  • Time commitment ranges from 1.5 hours per week to up to 8 hours per week, depending on projects and special events

 

Benefits of Participation:

  • All selected Teen Leadership Council members will receive a $400 stipend per school year for their time and commitment
  • Members will:
    • Gain leadership skills and enhance youth development competencies
    • Become leaders in creating a culture of health and wellness
    • Feel confident and empowered to make a difference in their communities
    • Practice collaborating with and mobilizing their peers

Timeline:

  • April 30, 2019 – Student applications due
  • May 1-15, 2019 – One-on-one meet and greet
  • May 15-31, 2019 – Students notified on selection decision
  • June 11, 2019 – First kick-off meeting
